Davenport House and Gardens

Davenport House

As a bicentennial endeavor, the Club, in concert with Historic Savannah Foundation, committed itself to the creation of a parterre garden for the 19th century Isaiah Davenport House Museum. The design turned a sandy lot into an attractive period garden, whose walkways and shaded benches host thousands of Savannah’s visitors each year. More recently this garden has been redesigned and replanted with help from club members. Pictured to the right are Mrs. John W. Carswell, Sr. and Mrs. Lawrence Lee upon the opening of the garden in 1976.
